The ingredients you will be needing to prepare Fisherman soup

  1. 1kg of Octopus
  2. 1kg of Calamari
  3. 1kg of fresh fish
  4. 1kg of tiger prawns
  5. 500g of Crabs
  6. 1 tin milk cup of Periwinkle
  7. 8 yellow scent pepper
  8. 6 Scotch bonnet pepper
  9. 4 Medium size of onions
  10. 2 Big size of dry cat fish
  11. 200g of stock fish
  12. 2 Cups of cocoyam paste for thickener
  13. 2 cup spoon of palm oil
  14. 2 Cup of crayfish
  15. Seasoning cube to taste
  16. Salt to taste
  17. 2 Handful of uziza leave

Preparation of the ingredients

  • Wash your fresh fish and cut into the size you prefer and season it and set aside
  • Cut your octopus and wash it very well and season it and set aside
  • Cut your calamari and Wash it and season it and set aside
  • Wash your crabs and season it and set aside
  • Wash your tiger prawns and season it and set aside
  • Wash the periwinkle, season it and set aside
  • Wash the stock fish and soke it with hot water and set aside
  • Wash your dry cat fish and debone it and set aside
  • Wash 1 medium size onions and diced it and set aside
  • Wash all the peppers and the remaining onions and blend them together and set aside
  • Wash your cocoyam, boiled it, pound it and set aside
  • Blend the crayfish and set aside
  • Wash your Uziza leave and cut it and set aside once all the preparations are ready, then let’s start cooking.

Method on How to Prepare Fisherman Soup

  • Get a clean pot on fire
  • pour your palm oil
  • once it’s hot, add the diced onions and allow it to fry a bit
  • Pour your blended mixture pepper and onions and allow it to fry for 5 minutes
  • Pour 3 Lt of water into the fried sauce
  • Add the fresh fish
  • Add the calamari
  • Add the octopus
  • Add the crabs
  • Add stock fish and cover it to boil for 3 minutes
  • Add your tiger prawns
  • Add your periwinkle
  • Add the dry fish and allow it to cook for a minute
  • Add your thickener cocoyam paste and allow it to boil a minute. This time the soup has become thickened but not too much, if it’s too thickened, you can add additional water. Your have to turn it gently so that your fish will not be smashed
  • Add your crayfish powder
  • Add your seasoning cube to taste
  • Add your salt to taste
  • Add your Uziza leave by this time all your house will be full of aromaticness lol. Let it boil for a minute, then turn off the heat and your soup is ready!
