How to Prepare Ewedu Soup recipe

Ewedu soup is a popular soup in Nigeria, especially in the yoruba land. The Yorubas love ewedu soup very much they mix it with beef stew or Assorted meat stew, fish stew, chicken stew etc. If you want to mix it with stew, then you don’t need much ingredients, you will just add salt and season cube and you are good to go. What is an owambe without Ewedu soup ,gbegiri, stew( Fish stew, beef stew, or chicken stew and AMALA! That party never complete without them. Ewedu leaf is also known as Jute leaf in english. It’s full of nutrients and health benefits. It can be served with different swallows and it’s very delicious and yummyscious. It’s can be prepared in different ways, like adding all ingredients for soup and you don’t need to mix it again with any stew. Some people will add egusi, some people don’t add. The ingredients you will be needing to prepare Ewedu soup

  1. 200g of Ewedu leaf
  2. Water
  3. seasoning cube to taste
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Crayfish powder
  6. Egusi (optional)
  7. Iru Locust beans (optional)
  8. potash

Preparation for the ingredients

  • Wash your Ewedu leaf and cut it and set aside
  • Wash your Iru very well, because it usually has stones. And set aside
  • Blend your egusi and set aside
  • Blend the crayfish and set aside. Once you are done with the preparations, then you are good to go.

Method on How to Prepare Ewedu Soup recipe

  • Get a clean pot on fire
  • pour some water
  • Add some potash
  • once the water has boiled, add the Ewedu leaf
  • sprinkle some egusi inside the Ewedu, and allow it to boil till the Ewedu is tender
  • Blend the leaves using a blender or wooden broom until you achieve a slimy consistency.
  • pour it back into the pot and put it on fire again
  • Add your Iru
  • Add your crayfish powder
  • Add seasoning cube to taste
  • Add salt to taste
  • Turn off the fire. And your soup is ready!.
