How to Prepare Moimoi recipe

Moimoi is a popular Nigeria food I’ll explain what this dish is all about in case you’ve never heard of it before. Moin moin is a delicious, savory dish from Nigeria. It is made from peeled black-eyed peas, honey beans, or brown beans. These beans are blended with peppers and onions and then steamed. Other additions like fish, crayfish, boiled egg, and beef liver are added for more texture and nutrition.It is often served as lunch or dinner, and we reheat the leftover in the morning and use it as a side paired with pap or custard. It’s very easy to prepare and very yummyscious.

The ingredients you will be needing to prepare Moimoi

  1. 1 Cup of brown beans or honey beans any type of beans you like
  2. 1 big size of smoked titus fish
  3. 5 big size of eggs
  4. 1 can of corn beef
  5. 2 cups of vegetable oil
  6. 1 bunch of moimoi leaves
  7. 5 Bell pepper ( tatashe)
  8. 6 Scotch bonnets  ( Ata rodo )
  9. If you want a good moimoi, you have to use enough onions, so you will be using,
  10. 4 Big size of onions
  11. 2 cups of meat stock
  12. seasoning cube to taste
  13. salt to taste. If you like you can use beef, liver, shrimp, crayfish, as your money rich.

Preparation for the ingredients

  • Pour your beans into a clean bowl
  • Add some water and leave it for a minute
  • pour out the water then peel the beans and remove all the peels from the beans,
  • scoop the beans out into a clean bowl and Add some water and keep for a while for it to be soft for grinding
  • wash your moimoi leaves and set aside
  • wash your bell pepper and onions and set aside
  • wash your Scotch bonnets and set aside
  • wash your smoked titus fish and debone it and set aside
  • boiled your eggs and cut them and set aside
  • open your corn beef and set aside
  • Get a clean pot on fire, pour the vegetable oil into it, once it’s hot, add some diced onions Allow it to fry a bit and set aside
  • Now, take the beans and add the tatase, rodo, onions and blend them smooth, don’t add too much water
  • pour the mixture into a clean bowl. Once you are done with all this preparations, then you can start the cooking process.

Method on How to Prepare Moimoi

  • Get the blended mixture of the beans, and start mixing it. You have to mix it very well so that it can be come very fluffy
  • Add your vegetable oil and mix it well
  • Add the meat stock and mix it well
  • Add your corn beef and mix it well
  • Add your seasoning cube to taste
  • Add your salt to taste
  • get the boiled eggs and fish and place it beside you
  • get your moimoi leaves and put it beside you
  • get your scoop spoon
  • State the wrapping process
  • Once your wrapped the leave, you pour one scoop of the mixture and add some of the eggs and fish into it and close the leave
  • get a clean pot and add the sticks from the leave and start placing the wrapped moimoi into the pot
  • Once you are done with the wrapping, add some water and place on fire
  • cover it to boil for 20-30 minutes
  • take one out to check if it’s done, if it’s done then turn off the fire and your moimoi is ready!
